Purpose:

The purpose of Leadership Waycross is to identify, recognize and Waycross-Ware County area. The program is designed to be an educational experience, and, as better community without taking a position on specific issues.

Mission :

The mission of Leadership Waycross is to maintain a continuing broad base of active, informed and effective leaders for our community.

Program:

The program is a series of one-day sessions which continues over a nine month period. These sessions include: Orientation, Bonding Retreat, Local Government Day, State Government Day, Business & Industry Day, Human Services Day, Agriculture Day, Health Day, Military Day, Education Day, Arts & Tourism Day, Vision Retreat and Graduation. Emphasis is placed on panel discussions, on-site visits, field trips, interaction and networking among Leadership Waycross class members and presenters. In addition, there are a number of extracurricular activities planned which are intended to round out the learning experience.

Commitment:

Leadership Waycross requires a serious commitment of time and energies. Orientation, Bonding and Vision retreats are mandatory and you must complete 80% attendance of the remaining action-packed sessions. You will be glad that you did!

Tuition:

Class fee is $600 for each participant. This fee includes program materials, meals, overnight lodging and transportation. Partial scholarships are available, thanks to involved community leaders!

Selection:

Space is limited. Apply today! Each year the class size is limited to no more than 24 participants who are chosen from the applications submitted. Participants are selected by the Steering Committee, which is made up of active alumni members of the Leadership Waycross program. Selection of a well balanced class is important because much of the increased understanding and knowledge of the community comes from personal interactions within the group.

Everyone has leadership roles – men and women from business, industry, religious and civic groups, minority organizations, and the arts – but only those leaders that are willing to invest their time to gain the knowledge, can become GREAT leaders. Are you ready to become a better leader in your field? Can you commit to becoming involved in making Waycross and Ware County the BEST that it can be?

For more information on Leadership Waycross please contact the Chamber of Commerce at 912/283-3742 or Steering Committee members: Regina Morgan at 283-2112 or Carol Clarke at 337-0702.

“A leader is one who takes others from where they are to whey they need to go……and has them enjoy the trip.

Leadership Waycross Alumni

After graduation from the Leadership Waycross program the commitment does not end. One becomes a member of Leadership Waycross Alumni. (LWA)

Alumni members serve on almost every board in our community, hold elected office, and devote countless volunteer hours. LWA are truly some of the most dedicated community workers. The LWA recently spearheaded the renovation of Jack Williams Park in downtown Waycross as well as donating time and talent to other projects such as providing gifts to needy children during the holidays, Manna Mission, Wag-A-Thon, Read To a Child Program and more.
