“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” Henry Ford
Back in 1996, the leaders of Ware and Pierce Counties had a positive vision for growth and development in our communities. That positive vision has and does continue to be the goal of the Waycross-Ware County Development Authority’s Board of Directors. WWDA has been very successful in the recent recruitment of new industries that has proven to State officials that we are ready, willing and able to market this community to the world for future growth and expansion.
We commend the Board of Commissioners from Ware and Pierce County, City Commissions from Waycross and Blackshear for having the vision to create new job opportunities for our communities. We continue to “Grow our Communities, One Job at the Time.”
WWDA is located at 2855 Forest Drive, Waycross, GA 31503 t: 912 283 2112 www.wwda.us
DOWNTOWN Waycross Development Authority
The DWDA was created by an act of the Georgia Legislature as an instrumentality of the State and Public Corporation in 1974-75. An Authority can act in a manner similar to private enterprise without the political constraints, which often affect government agencies. The DWDA exists for the public good.
"The purpose of the Authority is the development of the downtown Waycross area, which includes but is not limited to renovation and rehabilitation of existing buildings, structures, and improvements located in the Downtown Waycross District, all for any commercial, business, office, public, or other use determined by a majority of the members of the Authority to further the redevelopment of the Waycross area. The purpose of the Authority is hereby declared to be an essential and public purpose, promoting the public good and welfare and benefiting the citizens.”

MAIN STREET is a program to encourage the economic improvement and physical renovation of downtown. The MAIN STREET approach builds on the idea of the downtown’s total image, not simply on a “facelift” for buildings. Waycross MAIN STREET is a part of the national and state MAIN STREET programs in 40 states and more than 1,000 cities. Waycross is one of the six original MAIN STREET cities.
MAIN STREET’s focus is on ideas, attitudes and economic opportunities. Successful renovation requires much more than just attention to a building’s physical appearance. A positive perception by the people who use downtown must be continually renewed. The primary focus to downtown is the revitalization of the Historic Buildings.
WAYCROSS MAIN STREET is the non-profit organization whose primary focus is the preservation of downtown.
Main Street meets every 4th Tuesday @ City Hall at 5:15 pm.
